New Cosmetic Dentistry E-Newsletter, “Successful Smiles” Now Available

In an effort to educate consumers about cosmetic dentistry and the new technologies available, Boston cosmetic dentist Helaine Smith recently announced publication of her new e-newsletter, “Successful Smiles,” which can be found at http://www.helainesmithdmd.com. The newsletter is based on Dr. Smith’s experience drawn from working with hundreds of Boston cosmetic dentistry patients over the last ten years.

“In my Boston practice, I meet many people who have misconceptions about cosmetic dentistry and the types of procedures available today,” said Dr. Helaine Smith. “People think, for example, that dental veneers – or teeth caps as they are commonly referred to – fall off after a few years or that they impair a person’s oral health. Or, people are not aware that new technologies make tooth implants a safe and effective alternative to crowns or partial dentures. More importantly, consumers don’t know that advanced cosmetic dentistry requires extensive training – which isn’t taught at most dental schools. So consumers must learn how to ask the right questions when considering cosmetic dentistry.

“Cosmetic dentistry is a growing industry -- not just in the States but in other countries as well. Reality TV shows in the States have demystified cosmetic dentistry procedures; new cosmetic dentistry products, such as MAC Veneers, are advertised in upscale fashion magazines; and teeth whitening is now seen as a 'must-have,' along with manicures and facials, for women getting married. My goal with this new e-newsletter is to educate consumers about cosmetic dentistry and the new options available to them.”

Dr. Smith will publish the “Successful Smiles” e-newsletter every other month. Readers can subscribe to the newsletter by visiting Dr. Smith’s Web site at
http://www.helainesmithdmd.com/successful_smiles/index.htm where they will also find the current issue. Newsletter articles will focus on cosmetic dentistry topics such as: The difference between composite and porcelain veneers, new pain-free or sedation dentistry techniques, why tooth colored fillings are quickly replacing traditional amalgam or “silver” fillings, and the questions people should ask dentists when considering advanced cosmetic dentistry work.
